Abstract
Five glass pieces decorated with Christian symbols have been discovered at Kom el-Dikka in Alexandria during Polish excavations. Three of them represent crux monogrammatica, while the other two feature two different relief depictions of Latin crosses. They appear on the bases of the mould blown vessels and on stamped appliqués. Judging from the colour of the glass (green and yellowish-green) and its overall quality we can assign these finds to the Late Roman/Early Byzantine period. They apparently represent a local production. Importance of these finds lies not only in the fact that they expand our knowledge of the distribution and chronology of glass with such decoration, but also that they are true rarities in the glass material – not only in Alexandria and Egypt, but also in the Mediterranean region.
