Abstract

Thanks to the last discoveries in Medinet Madi (Fayum), during execution of the project of the Italo-Egyptian cooperation (ISSEMM 2008) under the scientific and technical guidance of the Pisa’s University, a new chapter of the history of the temple’s architecture of Egypt has been written. The dromos of the Medinet Madi temple – from the altar of the holocaust up to the structures of the temple itself – has been reconstructed and completed with new findings: four statues of lions, a statue of a lioness, and another kiosk of Hellenistic style. The date of the dromos (116 BC) was established by discovery of a new Greek inscriptions. Now the Medinet Madi area is organized as an archaeological park, the first one in Egypt, inaugurated in the 2011.
